Acton Acres was founded on the belief that every child is a genius, and is a capable and curious learner who thrives in an environment that nurtures their natural inclination to explore and discover. We combine the principles of Maria Montessori, which emphasize independence, hands-on learning, and respect for the child's individuality, with Charlotte Mason's approach, which advocates for a rich, living education that connects children with the wonders of nature.
In our studios, learning takes place both indoors and outdoors, allowing young heroes to engage with their environment in meaningful ways. In indoor classrooms, Acton Academy is influenced by the Montessori method, providing children with carefully prepared environments and materials that encourage self-directed exploration and mastery of concepts at their own pace. Additionally, our outdoor nature-based programs, inspired by Charlotte Mason, takes advantage of the natural world as a classroom.
Heroes spend significant time outdoors, where they engage in hands-on activities such as gardening, nature walks, and observation of plants and animals. Through these experiences, they develop a deep connection with nature and cultivate a sense of stewardship for the environment.
Acton Acres Leadership Academy is centrally located in North Texas, between the cities of Gainesville and Sherman, just 30 min north of the Prosper / Celina residential communities. Situated on a sprawling 100 acre gated nature preserve in Sadler, Texas, our young heroes have an opportunity to learn in our 3,000 sq-ft Acton Academy learning studio, as well as explore miles of trails through ancient hardwood forests, ponds, and all the nature this beautiful world has to offer.
